Three great-uncle  in 2009 Lunar New Year started operations in Malacca, five-story building, oil on dark red, and the other side of the Dutch city house, like the color red, but also adds Malacca Red House atmosphere. Three great-uncle farms located in the street intersection, regarded as a landmark of the street.

You have to go-Jonker street--鸡场街

The entrance of the Jonker street.
Jonker street is like Melaka's China Town. It's my favourite street untill now!I really love it and if u come to Melaka,u absolutely cannot miss it!

I'm going to introduce Jonker street, first, let me explain to u about the name of the street.

This street has a lot of names, but the famous two are Jonker street and 鸡场街.

Jonker street is like aristocratic Holland street.I don't really know the story. But the Chinese name"鸡场街“,the word is "Chicken house street",it's so weird! At first i don't know why Melaka's China Town has this name!So when i came here,i asked a shopkeeper of an antique shop, she's a Malaysia Chinese.

"It's from Fujian(a province of China, alot of Malaysia Chinese are from there)localism,at first, this street's name was '街场街(jie chang jie),it means bustling street, but in Fujian localism, the prounciation is '鸡场街(ji chang jie),and in this street most of business people were from Fujian,so it's named '鸡场街‘."

Really funny coincidence,isn't it?

Jonker street is near the Melaka river,if u are in the downtown,u can walk their about 15 minutes,it's a really long street, always have a lot of people, you can find it easily.

(The address :Jalan Hang Jebat,75200 Melaka.Tel:60-6-2848 282.U can go there by bus, from Melaka sentral terminal, take Panorama bus,to Baba Nyonya Heritage.U can spent whole day in there, really nice place!)

Jonker street,afternoon.

In Jonker street, it seemed like coming back  Chinese old time.Maybe 50 or 60 years ago,it's really difficult to find a place like that even in China!

I visited a lot of stores here, everyone is particular and i was attracted in everywhere!

There's a really amazing Nyonya traditional clothes shop, the shopkeeper was really friendly, even u didn't buy anything she was wiling to talk to u alot.

Melaka has a different culture, especially in Jonker street,u can find it everywhere,it's Baba and Nyonya.

About 600 years ago,China is in Ming Dynasty,a lot of people from south of China moved to Melaka, they settled in here, and got married with the local person.

They were here from  generation to generation, theirs descedants are called Baba(for man)or Nyonya(for woman).

This culture is so special, coz it mixed Chinese culture and Malay culture.

When i went into the shop,i was struck by the colorful clothes! They are all handmade by local Nyonya.Really gorgeous!(But the price is really expensive!Every dress is around 700RM!I cannot afford it but it really worths it!If u have enough money,my advice is just buy it!It worths to collcect!)

A old Chinese Printer. The shopkeeper told us she's a Nyonya, and the dress can give your son and your grandson from generation to generation.(That shop cannot take pic,so pity!)

In Jonker street,u can find a lot of interested stores and a lot of local food!Really delicious!U can find many old Chinese classic constructs,u can image your father and mother's time.U can buy the most special local souvenirs.

In an antique shop.Made by wood.
You can take nice pic everywhere, even an old door, even an old mailbox.

Time in Jonker street is soft and quiet, like the Melaka river, never change.

(Only on Friday ,Sunday and Saturday the Jonker street has night market,it starts from 5pm,in the night market,You will not only see the Melaka amorous feelings, but also can taste the most local street-side snack! But pay attention to your bag and phone, coz it's really crowded there!)

Cannot find a word to describe that nice!

If u come to Melaka but miss Jonker street, you will feel really pity!U can find everything u want here, and it's absolutely a poetic stop!

welcome to Melaka!

The Melacca trip is going to the end, time flies,I really want to come back the first day!

So now can I answer the question that at the first day I asked?

Maybe.
Melaka is a state of Malaysia, in the southern Malay peninsula, the Malacca strait. The capital of the state is also Malacca.

It has really long history :In 1511, a Portuguese colony. Holland in 1641 to occupy. In 1826 it became part of the British Straits settlements. Malaysia's first prime minister Raman declared the independence of Malaysia in February 20, 1956, the ceremony was held in Malacca grassland.                   Just need a map,u can travel all
                                                                                             over Melaka by walking!

Maybe u cannot find any places are like Malacca, because of the history reason,Malacca mixed so many countries culture. The most amazing thing is ,it can mixed very well,no conflication.

It's  "Fu Jian"provincial.
Only in Malacca,u can feel many different culture,including the constructs,the lauguages,the food,the manner,the religion.

Unique shop.
Malacca is also a very 'good deal'place,it's not very big, almost of attractions are very close, the traffic and the hotel are very convenient, actually, most of the spots you can just take a walk.

Malacca is suitable for every demand, whether u wanna just take a trip alone to relax or u wanna have a romantic honeymoon,Malacca is the best choice.

Melaka River at night

In Melaca,u can find a lot of interesting stuff, almost them are handmade, they’re really special, you can buy a lot by very cheap price, but remember, only in the small shop!

Here u also can try  many very delicious local food!Especially if u wannna know sth about Nyonya,or the Nyonya food.

Nyonya food,in 'Old town chicken rice ball'.

The resident here are very kind, and they can speak many lauguages,it’s very convenient to communicate with them.

see and sky.

If u wannat take a rest, find a quiet and unique place to relax yourself, don't hasitate, welcome to Malaysia, welcome to Melaca!

Jonker street--local food!!!

Now i wanna talk about the most thing i got interested in Melaka and Jonker street----Local food!

Jonker street has a lot of very unique local food and snacks, they mix Chinese,Malay, and Indonesia dietetic culture. They all taste very special and delicious, you cannot find in ohther place as authentic as here!
When u ask to peopele in here about the local food in Jonker street, even in whole Melaka, the first one u will hear is absolutely the chicken rice ball,so u know how famous is this.
Chicken rice ball is like The Hainan chicken rice, the chicken's tastes are same, but the special thing is about the rice, the rice is like a small ball,6 balls equal one bowl of rice.
Jonker street has a lot of restuarants have Chicken rice ball, but the most famous two are "old town chicken rice ball"and "Mr.He."

"Mr He' always has long queue.
"old town chicken rice ball"is also good, but more like just for visitors.

(Both of these two are good, the menus are almost same,'old town'is more expensive, and if u wanna take nice pic,'old town'is better, more famous for visitors. But if u wanna just try the local taste,my advice is just go to 'Mr He'.My recommand is absolutely chicken rice ball!Actually this kind of restuarants just have chicken rice ball, fish and vegetables, don't have any other else,u can order all of them, they all taste very delicious!)
'Old town chicken rice ball'is more like a musuem.

"Old town chicken rice ball"and 'Mr.He'....looks similar ...yes?

I

I heard about the chicken rice ball is from Nyonya food. The chicken taste very fresh and tender....i miss that taste until now!

Jonker street also have other Nyonya food, like a kind of desert,it's called Nyonya cake,it delicious too! They're made of sticky rice, taste very soft and sweet, and it's quite cheap! You can find it everywhere!

(Just 1.5 or 2 rm per piece.Every restuarant and even stall all have this! And u can buy it as souvenir!)

You can find this kind of stall everywhere in Jonker street!

And the last one i wanna recommend is the "Nyonya ice"...This one also very cheap and common, especially in stalls. This ice is not very sweet,u can eat a lot but don't feel sweet greasy.

It has ormosia, brown sugar in it,made me feel come back to childhood, and the special material is kind of vermicelli i don't know the name,in chinese it's called"JIan dui",i really love it!It tastes very whippy and cool!

I love it!

Why the Nyonyas good at cooking?I don't know, but i really enjoy it!

If u are like me-- crazy about eating,u must be here--Melaka's Jonker street!U will never forget here's delicious food!

About crocodile farm.

Eatting free breakfast!really good!i got fatter!on the way by bus, everyone was expected!

Today i'm going to introduce the Crocodile farm and something interesting in there, this is my second time to see the crocodiles, really cool!

First,we went there at 10 pm and got there after 30 minutes.

(The farm is a in the countryside, the traffic is not really convinient,so u need to take taxi to there and it costs 40 rm,you can go there with your friends,it's more cheaper.
The farm's ticket is 12rm,no student price, but i think it's ok for this price.)

The gate is really cool!Let me feel tropical style!

When u go inside the farm,u will see many models of many landmarks, they're really delicate!U can take pic there.
All the green in my eyes!

The farm's afforestation is really good. There are so many different kind of trees and other plants, not only like a zoo,it's also like a plant park. The air is quite fresh.

Then we went on inside..we saw a big space was surronded by stainless steel, there's a big phytal zone and land.

I saw a lot of crocodile inside the zone! They didn’t move. Some of them falled in the water and a other else on the land.

The crocodiles made me remind something.......

It’s 1 year ago,my mother and me went to my city’s zoo,it’s a very big zoo,we walked for long time,we saw a many animals,we’re so tired, and then we got the crocodile area.

That was the first time I saw crocodile!I found the inside of their month was pink color.I got a shock. Before I thought it must be black or brown.

“Look at the fish!”my mom said.

A guy put some fish inside, the fish were still alive, and when the crocodiles smelled the fish, they suddenly rushed at it!

So violent!

Such cold blooded animals! They eat theirs baby!
“I hate crocodiles! The fish is so pitiful! So crue!Crocodiles are really cold blooded
animal!”my mom said.
I don’t know why I can remember it very clearly!Maybe because when my mom said it I felt she’s just a young girl!

So cute! I love my mom, really miss her!

Then we saw a lot of animals, some of my classmates go inside the crocodile area!Sya held a baby crocodile up!

This tortoise is really big!I guess it's more than 50 years old!
So brave!

When we took a rest in a pavilion,Lee let me see a monkey on a tree.

It’s so cute and I’m a monkey of Chinese star sign.

You can see the monkey very close,if u want u can feed them and touch them!sooooo cute!
“You know when I was 7 years old,I went to the zoo,I saw a really small monkey,my cookies were grabed by it!”Calvin said.

OMG!My bf is so cute,like a monkey.

Then we went to the ghost house, the ticket is 3 rm per person, but i don't think it worths it!

It’s not exactly a good place,so boring and the ghosts just stayed here, didn’t move at all.

looks scared!but.....
Does the world really have ghost?I have no idea.

(The crocodile farm is not very big place,u can visit the whole place within 2 hours. If u r interested in amphibian or crocodiles,u must go there! This farm has morn than 100 varirties of crocodiles! And the ticket is cheap!U can even touch the crocodiles! It's crazy but it's really unusual experience! It's also nearby mini Malaysia, just 15 minutes by taxi.)

It's a really nice day and i guess tonight my dream will be full of crocodiles!
